The Night is the theme of Black Drawings. The night becomes landscape, but at the same time a space of redemption. As a series, they express a change in the direction of my artistic work, which until then had been related to the contradictory, insoluble relationship among art, society, and history.
On the surface, these drawings are solved aesthetically as a formal game. Metaphorically, they represent, too, a step toward Modernism, a journey toward that moment in which took place the contact between the so-called "primitive cultures" and the expansionists from the western world.
